About

Sebastian is an Assistant Professor of Economics at the UAI Business School in Chile. He holds a PhD from the University of Chicago Harris School with a field specialization in Economics, taught by James Heckman, Bob LaLonde, and Dan Black. He was previously a Postdoctoral Scholar and Lecturer at Princeton’s Department of Economics, and a Research Economist at the Inter-American Development Bank. His research uses economic models, field experiments, and administrative data to study labor, education, and behavioral topics. He has received the FONDECYT Iniciación 2022-25 (top 2 of 46) and FONDECYT Regular 2025-28 (top 4 of 52) National Research Grants. He and Christopher are coauthors on the long-running Chilean teacher-screening agenda, including pre-college academic achievement and teacher recruitment and the fifty-years-of-admission-exams paper.
