About
Giacomo is Professor of Economics at the University of Geneva (Institute of Economics and Econometrics, GSEM), a Research Fellow at CEPR and BREAD, and a former Senior Economist at the New York Fed. Born in Lecce, Italy, he obtained his laurea at Bocconi University and his PhD in development, labour economics, and applied microeconometrics at University College London under Richard Blundell. Before Geneva, he was Assistant Professor at Stanford (2006-2013) and held visiting positions at UC Berkeley and Columbia. He’s an Associate Editor at the Journal of the European Economic Association. His research is in household behavior under uncertainty — insurance, credit, mobility, and housing — and social networks. He and Christopher collaborated on the perceived-own-ability information experiment in the Dominican Republic and on the gender gap in mathematics paper using Chilean data.
