The project
Start with the work professionals actually do
Lawyers, social workers and psychologists in child-protection programs must manage complex cases alongside repeated forms, disconnected records and court deadlines. This study asks which tasks consume their time and where carefully designed digital assistance could help.
The work combines interviews, observation and a time-use survey before defining prototypes. It builds on earlier evidence about enhanced legal representation, while asking a separate question about supporting the professionals who deliver it.
What the work involves
Understand the workflow
Observe daily work and listen to practitioners before choosing which administrative tasks to address.
Design with legal teams
Review early concepts with professionals from Programa Mi Abogado and NAD, keeping their judgment central.
Prepare an evaluation
Turn the findings into a product specification and a plan for evaluating a later pilot.
Research & implementation
Scoping before a future trial
The public project describes a five-month study with four phases, ending in a specification and evaluation roadmap. Its AI tools do not yet have demonstrated effects on children's outcomes. Yale University supports this stage.
