About
Katrine Vellesen Loken is a Norwegian economist, Professor of Economics at the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH) and, since 2025, its Vice Rector for Research. She received her Ph.D. from the University of Bergen (2010) and became a full professor in 2014; her research examines early investments in children and the long-term effects of social policies such as parental leave, subsidized childcare, and incarceration. She is a fellow of CEPR, IZA, and CESifo and a 2017 Nils Klim Prize laureate, and she is a coauthor with Christopher Neilson (and Prashant Bharadwaj) on ‘Early Life Health Interventions and Academic Achievement,’ published in the American Economic Review (2013).
