About
Ryan is Director of Government Innovation at the University of Chicago Development Economics Center and President of ConsiliumBots. He earned his BA and MA in Economics at Universidad de Chile and is on leave from a Harvard Kennedy School MPA. His career has focused on experimental evaluation in partnership with governments: he was Executive Director of J-PAL Latin America & Caribbean (2009-2014), then Coordinator of the Experimental Policy Initiative at the Chilean Budget Office in the Ministry of Finance, where he designed and implemented evaluations of education, health, entrepreneurship, poverty-reduction, and social-security policies. He is also founder and board director at OPTE and a founding partner of Experimental. He and Christopher have collaborated on Chilean inequality and education research, including the pro-poor growth in Chile paper.
