Naomi Shimberg earned a BA in Ethics, Politics, and Economics from Yale
University in 2023, won an NSF Graduate Research Fellowship, and later
served at the White House Council of Economic Advisers covering climate
and industrial-strategy portfolios before beginning a PhD in economics
at MIT. As a Yale undergraduate she co-authored “Small Firms and the
Pandemic: Evidence from Latin America” (Journal of Development
Economics, 2022) with Maria Elena Guerrero-Amezaga, John Eric Humphries,
Christopher A. Neilson, and Gabriel Ulyssea, a survey-based study of
COVID-19’s impact on small businesses across eight Latin American
countries.
