Matteo is a Professor of Economics at the Toulouse School of Economics and Scientific Director of the TSE Human Capital Center. He earned his PhD in Economics from the Paris School of Economics in 2011, then joined the Inter-American Development Bank as a research economist (2011-2015) and subsequently moved to TSE as Assistant Professor in
- His research is at the intersection of development and labor economics, with a focus on human capital, inequality, teacher labor markets, and labor-market frictions in middle-income and developing countries. He is a Research Fellow at CEPR, EUDN, and IZA, and an invited researcher at J-PAL’s Learning for All Initiative and J-PAL LAC.
