Maria Elena Guerrero (Guerrero-Amezaga) is a Peruvian economist and Ph.D. student in economics at UCLA, working on development economics and industrial organization, including quality regulation in Peruvian higher education and firm markups in Uganda. She earned her B.A. in economics from the Pontificia Universidad Catolica del Peru (2018) and was a predoctoral fellow at Yale’s Tobin Center for Economic Policy before starting her Ph.D. She is a coauthor with Christopher Neilson on ‘Small Firms and the Pandemic: Evidence from Latin America’ (with John Eric Humphries, Naomi Shimberg, and Gabriel Ulyssea), published in the Journal of Development Economics (2022).
