About
John Kennes is a Canadian economist based in Copenhagen who works on search-and-matching theory, directed search, and market design, with recent research on childcare admission systems. He earned his Ph.D. in economics from the University of Western Ontario (1996) and was an Associate Professor at Aarhus University until 2023; he is affiliated with VIVE (the Danish Center for Social Science Research) and the University of Copenhagen. He is a coauthor with Christopher Neilson on ‘Queuing for Segregation: Evidence from Access to Childcare in Copenhagen’ (with Andreas Bjerre-Nielsen, Mette Gortz, Elena Mattana, and Bobak Pakzad-Hurson).
