About
Gianmarco is an ICREA-Academia Fellow at the Department of Economics and Business at Universitat Pompeu Fabra and an Affiliated Professor at the Barcelona School of Economics. He earned his BA at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú and a PhD in Agricultural and Resource Economics from UC Berkeley. He is an Associate Editor of The Economic Journal and a co-organizer of the biweekly Virtual Development Seminar (VDEV-CEPR-BREAD). His research is in development economics and political economy in developing countries, using both observational data and field experiments to study the selection and incentives of public-sector workers and politicians, and the role of accountability institutions in policy outcomes.
