About
Fernanda — known as Pumi — is an Assistant Professor at Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, jointly appointed at College UC and the Department of Industrial Engineering, and an invited researcher at J-PAL Latin America and the Caribbean. She earned an MPP at the Harvard Kennedy School (2017) and a PhD in Education from Harvard in 2022 (Christopher on her committee), with a concentration in Education Policy and Program Evaluation. Before her academic career she was Executive Director of América Solidaria Haiti and held roles at Chile’s Ministry of Education and Educación 2020. Her research focuses on Latin American educational policies and interventions, gender bias in education, women’s underrepresentation in STEM, and peer-gender influences on academic performance.
