About
Dante is a Full Professor in the Department of Economics at Universidad de Chile and Deputy Director of the Center for Studies on Conflict and Social Cohesion (COES). He earned his BA in Commercial Engineering at Universidad de Chile and his MA and PhD in Economics at UCLA (1996). His research and advisory work focus on the economics of education, labor markets, poverty and inequality, and program evaluation. He has served as Lead Economist for Social Protection and Knowledge at UNDP Chile, advising the Chilean government on gender, education, and social protection policy, and as Executive Director of the World Bank (2008-2010) representing the southern-cone Latin American countries. He and Christopher have collaborated on early Chilean education and inequality research, including the pro-poor growth in Chile paper.
